Crew:
Lionfish IV requires a crew of 2, consisting of Master Class 5 (Skipper) Marine Engine Driver 2 (Engineer) and we generally also have a Deckhand (Usually a Dive master or Cook).
For evening cruises we try to field a crew of 4 to keep the vessel clean and assist with the running of the function. Our crew will assist you as much as possible but they duties running the boat are their prime concern. The crew are not employed to assist with food or drink service

Considerations:
All charters are Fremantle departure.
We have secure parking on-site at no charge. If you wish to have pick-ups from any other points this will be only with prior arrangement. We will need to check the jetty for suitability, ‘Lionfish IV’ is a large vessel and will not suit all jetties due to height or length.
Docking and leaving a jetty requires a minimum of 15 minutes each way. Public jetties often allow only short time docking of 15 minutes to leave access for other vessels.
Travelling time is charged at the same hourly rate as normal charter in 15 minute blocks. See special rates below.
You must allow at least 90 minutes travelling time from Fremantle to Perth (River speed 8 knots) Most evening charters take 1½ to 2 hours to cruise from Fremantle to Perth Waters.
boarding
Some clients prefer to have time at anchor about 3 hours into the evening to allow speeches etc. This is usually done in the large river area at Mosman Bay to keep the rocking to a minimum and allow plenty of space for other river traffic. At home berth PDA in North Fremantle we have excellent facilities for boarding passengers, food, drink and sound equipment for your function
The background music on the boat is not ‘Dance’ volume music. If you are using the wheelhouse deck as a dance floor you will require amplified music. The area is large enough for a DJ, Juke box or even a small band. If you prefer to bring along your own CD's, Perth Diving Academy has amplified speakers and CD player available for $100.00 per charter. These amplified speakers can take input from iPhones, iPods, laptops or you can compile your own play list on CD and we use our portable player on-board.
Most decorations and party favours are acceptable aboard Lionfish IV . Please ask our staff about the correct placement and utilization of certain items. Sparklers are not permitted as they can cause damage to many parts of the vessel. When in doubt please ask
Charter costs: ( Rates all increase 10% for charters after 1st July 2010)
Evening River Cruises
$500 per hour (minimum of 4 hours)
$630 per hour for 3 hour cruises.
$850 per hour for 2 hour cruises.

East St +$250, Fisherman's Harbour +$250, Barrack St. +$750. Travelling with passengers is considered as charter time.

Security Deposits
All charters have a Security Deposit – to cover cost of repairs to possible damage i.e. Carpet steam cleaning due to trampled food or repairs to side curtains due to cigarette burns. We reserve the right to increase the security deposit from $1000 to $2000 for possible high risk charters. ( Bucks nights, 18th & 21st Birthdays and charters that involve raft-ups or other vessels coming alongside.

What does my $2000 bond cover?
In general the bond is for any additional requirements on the charter like extending the charter by half a hour or requiring extra ice etc.

It also is there to ensure the hirer takes responsibility for the correct behaviour of their guests.

Some example of inappropriate behaviour are listed below:

  1. Physical damage to the vessel examples could be, damage to toilets, graffiti,  broken or scratched mirrors, cigarette burns, damaged cushions.
  2. Excessive mess from food or drink fights
  3. Stealing of items off boat
  4. Damage to navigation lights
  5. Unauthorised use of safety equipment example launching life rafts or discharging fire extinguishers.
  6. Drug or alcohol intoxication requiring the performance of CPR or first aid.
  7. Drug or alcohol intoxication leading to inappropriate behaviour and having to call for assistance from Water Police or Ambulance Services. Example jumping overboard from the vessel or fights.
  8. Damage to jetties car parks and facilities where passengers embark or disembark. ie. Smashing windows on cars, graffiti on buildings, urinating in letterboxes

Most bonds are refunded in full within 10-14 days. Only 3% of charters have some deductions as listed above.

The Responsible Adult
During the charter we require someone to be responsible for the quests on board and to liaise with the boat crew when decisions need to be made. The person needs to be an adult and be able to make responsible decisions.

 Duties of the responsible adult:
  1. Make sure alcohol is served in a responsible way.
  2. Not to permit the use of illegal drugs.
  3. Not to allow offensive behaviour on board or after disembarkation.
  4. Tell the skipper if there is a change in plan.
  5. Make any decisions that affect the passengers on board.

Drinks:
Lionfish IV is not licensed to sell alcohol. This means we operate on a BYO policy.
If you are hosting a party and intend to supply drinks for your guests we remind you that you must be responsible hosts and allow for provisions of water and soft drinks as well as alcoholic beverages.

We recommend the following local store as they will deliver cold just prior to the charter (saving you additional ice):
Old Bridge Cellars, 221 Queen Victoria St, North Fremantle
Phone
93352702

Please remember that if you are serving wine you will need to have plastic or glassware available for your guests. When you purchase your drinks check with your supplier to see if they have hire glassware available. Often the stores will not charge for glassware hire if you are purchasing your drinks from them. Breakages are always charged for
.

Ice
200 Litre Ice boxes are available complete with 20 kg of ice @ $15.00 each. Additional ice is available @ $10.00 per 20 kg bag (for an average charter allow 3-6 x 20 kg bags depending on whether the drink is cold or warm).
Empty 200 Litre iceboxes can be arranged @$10.00 each.

Catering:

Food.

You are welcome to supply your own food or have outside caterers aboard but please make allowance for our crew to have access to the galley facilities. If you are catering you will need to supply all the necessary crockery and cutlery for the meal service as this is not stored on the boat by our caterers. Please ensure that you and your caterers leave the vessel clean with any of our equipment that was ‘borrowed’ back where it should be.

PDA staff at Fremantle are more than happy to assist you with advise and recommendations to make self catering easier whilst you are aboard ‘Lionfish IV’ all you have to do is ask!

During day cruises we have a full time cook that can be available to prepare meals on board for groups up to 50 people

Catering with Lionfish IV
Perth Diving Academy can supply finger food for your charter or we can arrange full food service from our caterers. With food service we provide staff and utensils as well as top-up of buffet dishes and clean-up after meal service.
We like to talk over any menu with you prior to fixing a price per head. We can offer combination menus with finger food and a buffet meal. Special needs can be catered for, all menus have some vegetarian choices and we can arrange specific food for your specific needs.

To discuss any menu options for your function with our food services co-ordinator, please contact Janet on 0448 993449
